Cleaning and Maintenance
It is important to protect your memorial by cleaning and maintaining it periodically. This will help to ensure that the beauty of the stone stays looking it’s best. This guide will help walk though the process for cleaning and maintenance.
Materials and Tools
D/2 Biological Solution (we suggest the quart size with a spray bottle)
Soft bristle brushes (natural or nylon; no wire brushes)
Spray bottle
Clean water via a bucket or hose
Plastic or wooden scraper (optional, recommended for signficant debris)
Soft cloths or sponges
Toothbrush
Gloves and protective eyewear and equipment

Most tools can be bought at a home improvement or hardware store.

Warnings
Do NOT pressure wash
Do NOT work on an unstable stone
Wear gloves, eyewear, and safe protective clothing
Test a small inconspicious area first
Always follow all directions from any product manufacturer

Best for mildly dirty or all polished stones.
Spray one surface at a time with clean water.
Wet a soft cloth using clean water.
In a circular motion, wipe the stone surface.
Fold the cloth to keep a clean face against the stone.
Using a clean cloth, do a final wipe of the stone.

Best for light natural debris.
Using a spray bottle, wet the entire stone with D/2.
Allow to air dry.
That’s it! The D/2 will work over time and break down the natural debris.

Best for significant moss, mildew, mold, or natural debris, especially unpolished areas.
Step 1: Prepare for Cleaning
Remove any loose debris such as leaves or dirt with a soft brush.
Wet the entire stone with clean water.
Step 2: Apply D/2
Shake the bottle of D/2 well.
Use a spray bottle to apply D/2 directly onto the stone, ensuring full coverage especially on heavy debris.
Step 3: Let it Sit
Let the D/2 sit for 10-15 minutes.
Avoid letting it dry; keep the stone lightly misted with D/2 if necessary.
Step 4: Scrub Gently
Use a soft bristle brush to gently scrub the surface in a circular motion.
Use a plastic scraper for heavy areas.
Step 5: Rinse Thoroughly
Rinse the stone completely with clean water using a bucket or hose.
Step 6: Repeat if Needed
Persistant growth may require a second application of cleaning.
